The International Phonetic Alphabet was created in the 19th century to standardize the representation of the different sounds of words in English, Spanish, and French. Each sound or phoneme is represented with a sign which is further classified depending on the part of your mouth and the quantity of air you use to produce that sound. The phoneme θ (or “TH”) is achieved by putting your tongue in between your lips and letting enough space in between to let a sigh out of your body. “ θ ” is the first sound you make when you say THank you, THanks, and THoughtful.

"θ [Th] - How to Find Your Own Language" at CB Nuit Festival

“θ - TH [or How To Find Your Own Language]” is a collective performance of gratitude and a celebration of art, community, and existence. “TH” (visually represented by the phoneme θ) is the first sound you make when you say THank you, THanks, and THoughtful. This performance seeks to bring the community of Corner Brook together to think and response to the people, places, and situations that make them continue seeing worth in their lives.
