We Approach But We Never Fully Arrive

Installation, performance, and altered text.

2018

Are there other ways to understand where we are without searching for meaning? In this project I approach the disambiguation of language as an alternative for human and non-human communication.  By examining sounds as traveling vibrations I invite the audience (receivers) to feel the sounds (from the transmitters) rather than analyzing sound searching for meaning. I believe that it is this way that audience and myself can enter in conversation and switch roles ( I am a receiver as much as they are; they are transmitters and I listen intently ).

We Approach but We Never Fully Arrive uses sound installations, altered text and performance to communicate mixed feelings of alienation and attempts to belong to a foreign, not so foreign, land.
